Sit N Go
Jeffrey “JGB146” Blake and Glitlr are the resident Sit and Go coaches at GrinderSchool. The videos include heads up, 6 max, and full ring games and range from $1-$33 SNG’s. Blake does a great job of explaining basic concepts and slowly brings along low limit players that are just starting out. Glitlr is a new addition to the site and is a well-known SNG player and poster on the poker forums that is sure to add extra value to the site.
MTT
GrinderSchool provides videos that cover everything from $2 to $55 multi-table tournaments. There is a large library of videos to choose from, and the content is produced in series format, so that players can follow a natural progression of learning and focus on specific aspects of their games.
Cash
This is the primary focus of the site. There are countless videos focusing on the low limit cash games and what it takes to grind your way up through the limits. GrinderSchool covers mostly 6 Max, with less emphasis on Heads-up and full ring material.
Other Games
There are PLO, Razz, and Stud cash game videos on the site, but the site is currently more dedicated to tournaments and no-limit cash games. CardRunners and Deuces Cracked are the best poker training sites for non-traditional poker games.
Pros
The biggest strength GrinderSchool is that it caters to a growing niche of players. More and more players are trying to turn poker into a career, and everyone starts at the same place while they are developing their games…low stakes. There are millions of online players that are either just starting out, or stuck in the low stakes games, and this is perfect site to sharpen your skills at. GrinderSchool offers one of the most affordable memberships of any site reviewed. If you are going to make videos for players who have smaller bankrolls, then the subscriptions will need to be price accordingly, and GrinderSchool delivered!
Cons
The lack of variety is probably the biggest drawback at GrinderSchool. There has been new mixed games material released recently, but this is not a strength of the site. If you are looking to round off your game in various poker disciplines like PLO and Horse, then I would look at CardRunners or Deuces Cracked. You won’t find a lot of “goodies” at GrinderSchool, so if you are looking for active forums, informative articles, or great production value, then you will need to look at sites like Bluefire Poker.
Overall
GrinderSchool clearly delivers on its mission to serve low stakes grinders. A lot of the bigger sites focus on larger stakes game, so if you are struggling to beat 5 or 10nl or play $5 sit n go’s still, paying as little as $10 a month or $34.99 for 3 months is a steal!
